Professional Benefits
AAPS House of Delegates and Annual Scientific Meeting
During the House of Delegates and Annual Scientific Meeting the board of directors,
academies of medicine, ABPS boards of certification, and various committees meet and conduct business. Additionally, a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary educational program is offered where attendees may earn category 1 CME of the AMA PRA.
AAPS Leadership Conference and Certification Workshops
During the Leadership Conference and Certification Workshops the board of directors,
academies of medicine, ABPS boards of certification, and various committees meet and conduct business. Additionally, ABPS item writing and oral case development for certification and recertification examinations is scheduled for all ABPS boards of certification during this event.
Both meetings provide a forum for physician specialists to discuss developments and emerging issues in their area of specialty and encourage collegial relationships that enable members to pursue their professional goals of participation in the association's various activities.
Academy of Medicine Affiliation
The AAPS represents nine (9) affiliated Academies of Medicine. Upon receiving membership dues, the AAPS automatically assigns members to the appropriate specialty academy based on his or her declaration of specialty.
ACCME-Accredited CME
The AAPS-affiliated academies of medicine sponsor quality continuing medical
education programs. AAPS is accredited as a national continuing medical education credit sponsor by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). The ACCME is comprised of The American Board of Medical Specialties,
The American Hospital Association, The American Medical Association, The Association
of American Medical Colleges, The Association for Hospital Medical Education,
The Council of Medical Specialty Societies, and The Federation of State Medical
Boards.
CME Registry Services
AAPS maintains records showing CME hours earned through AAPS programs and prepares complementary reports upon request. These reports are valuable when seeking, renewing, and expanding hospital privileges, securing a state license, and seeking recertification.
Governmental Affairs
Governmental Affairs represents members' interests at the state and federal
levels.
Leadership Training
AAPS provides newly elected leaders with training to develop skills that will
enhance their ability to get off to a fast and efficient start within the AAPS.
Recognition Promotion
AAPS employs a full-time expert to assist members in dealing with third-party
payers, hospitals, and potential and current employers.
ABPS Board Certification
In order to sit for an ABPS board of certification
examination, a physician must be a member in good standing with the AAPS.
Unlimited Board Certification Verification
As a member in good standing Diplomate members receive unlimited, responsive attestation to ABPS-affiliated
board certification.
