2006 AWARDS AND RECOGNITION


The following awards were presented during the 2006 AAPS Annual Scientific Meeting at the President’s Awards Dinner on July 1, 2006.

E.O. Martin Award Winner

Herbert Pardell, D.O., FAAIM

The E.O. Martin Award is the highest honor bestowed annually upon an individual by the AAPS. The award is named after E.O. Martin, D.O., FAASS, who founded the AAPS (originally known as the American Association of Osteopathic Physicians) in 1952. Every year, the E.O. Martin Award Committee honors an individual who has made a significant contribution to the AAPS, affiliated Academies of Medicine and Boards of Certification, the medical profession, and the community.

Kenneth Michael Flowe, M.D., FAAEP Emergency Medicine
Edward J. Hoskins, M.D., Ph.D., FAASFP Family Practice
Michael F. Reeh, M.D., FAASFP, FAAGM Geriatric Medicine
Richard J. Misischia, D.O., FAAIM Internal Medicine
James P. Eisenberg, M.D., Ph.D.,FAAR Radiology
Celeste M. Miller-Parish, D.O. Surgery

The Physician of the Year award may be presented by each academy of medicine to a member who has contributed to the growth, recognition, and leadership of the academy. One member, chosen by peers within the academy, is honored annually. No member may receive this award more than once per Academy of Medicine for which they are a member.

AAPS affiliated Academies of Medicine may honor those physicians who meet specific criteria by awarding the Degree of Fellow in the academy. For a full listing of the eligibility requirements, please click here. Applications must be submitted by December 31 of the year preceding the presentation of the award during the AAPS Annual Scientific Meeting in June.
