AAPS - The Resource for Physicians Practicing In Medical
Specialties
The American Association of Physician Specialists, Inc. (AAPS) was founded to
fill a professional need among physicians practicing in medical specialties.
Providing a coordinated structure for affiliated academies of medicine, the
American Association of Physician Specialists, Inc., serves its member physicians
with a broad range of professional, administrative, and educational functions.
The American Association of Physician Specialists, Inc., is a national,
not-for-profit organization representing thousands of physicians practicing
in a variety of medical specialties. Founded in 1950 by Doctor E.O. Martin and
incorporated in 1952, the American Association of Physician Specialists, Inc.,
has continued to expand its services and benefits to member physicians according
to the changing needs of the industry. Distinct from other medical societies,
the AAPS accepts qualified physicians into membership who have either an
allopathic (M.D.) or osteopathic (D.O.) degree.
The founding affiliate of the American Association of Physician Specialists,
Inc., was established to provide a clinically recognized structure for
certification and recertification of physicians with advanced training in a
number of medical specialties. Since 1984, AAPS has provided a headquarters
for medical specialty boards of certification, meeting this essential need
in the healthcare delivery system.
